Logitech just launched MX Air, a mouse that operates in the air… You just point the screen, leaning back in your sofa, and the cursor follows…
Who knows if you will be able to command also the air conditioning and the blinds. And why not neighbour’s tv volume, that would be a nice feature…
A great move towards natural user interfaces. The future is closer!

Oh man!,
If the regular use of a mouse is usually generating so much pain in the back, I cannot imagine how much pain you can have managing a mouse in this way.

Well, I guess the answer has two sides.
On the one hand, Since your arm is not leaning on the table it might be in tension and yes, it might not be very convenient.
On the other hand, you are not forced to take the anti-natural desk position, so you can find the position that better fits you. Future generations of the mouse could be very light -think of a watch-, so you would just naturally point where you want to click. Also, you can drop yourself on a sofa and be extreamly relaxed. And of course, you can use it always as a regulat mouse and use the ‘wii’ functionality sporadically.
Actually, what it hurts is to work…
